James Arthur recognized by U.S. National Academy of Sciences

Our congratulations go to Professor James Arthur (University Professor and Ted Mossman Chair) for being honoured by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.  He was elected to the prestigious organization as one of 21 foreign associates out of 15 countries.

From their website: “The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars. Established by an Act of Congress, signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, the NAS is charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to science and technology. Scientists are elected by their peers to membership in the NAS for outstanding contributions to research. The NAS is committed to furthering science in America, and its members are active contributors to the international scientific community.”

Further information on the award and a conversation about mathematics and math education with Professor Arthur can be found in a recent article by UofT News here.

A hearty congratulations to Professor Arthur on this esteemed honour!
